Servings
Ingredients
Burgers
1 lb lean ground beef (10% fat) (or turkey or chicken)
2 medium garlic cloves , peeled and crushed
2 tbsp fresh chopped onion , fried
1 eggs
1 egg whites
2 tbsp no-salt tomato sauce
1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
0.5 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp whole wheat flour (or soy flour)

Garnish
1 medium onions , sliced and broiled
1 pinch chopped parsley

Directions
1 Place the ground meat in a medium-sized bowl.
2 Add the rest of the ingredients, except whole wheat flour, and mix well. The flour will help it hold together and will also add nutritional value, but it is not always necessary.
3 If needed, add whole wheat flour and mix, just until blended.
4 With wet hands, shape into patties, about 3 inches in diameter and 1/4-inch thick.
5 Broil on the lowest shelf for 8 minutes on 1 side, then turn over and broil for another 6 minutes. Results will be even more tasty if cooked on the grill.
6 Garnish with broiled onion slices and parsley.
