Servings
Ingredients
2 lb whole lean beef brisket
0.75 cup cold water
0.25 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp vinegar
1 low sodium bouillon cube , or 1 tsp low sodium beef bouillon granules
0.5 tsp dry mustard
0.5 tsp chili powder
0.25 tsp ground cayenne (red pepper)
2 medium garlic cloves , minced
0.5 cup Ketchup
2 tbsp sweetener (sugar substitute)
2 tbsp unsalted butter

Directions
1 Trim excess fat from meat. If necessary, cut meat to fit into a 3-1/2 or 4 quart slow cooker. Set aside.
2 In medium bowl, combine water, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, bouillon granules, mustard, chili powder, cayenne pepper and garlic.
3 Reserve 1/2 cup mixture for barbecue sauce. Cover and refrigerate.
4 Place meat in slow cooker. Add remaining Worcestershire sauce mixture.
5 Cover and cook on low heat setting for 10 to 12 hours or on high heat setting for 5 to 6 hours.
6 Before serving, in small saucepan, combine the 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce mixture, ketchup, sugar substitute and butter. Heat thoroughly over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Serve sauce with meat.
