Ingredients
2 tbsp canola oil
1 Cabbage, red, fresh, head, small, 4" , shredded (about 3 pounds)
2 medium apples , chopped (tart green)
2 bay leaves
1 tsp ground cloves
0.5 tsp ground ginger
0.5 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp fresh lemon juice


Directions
1 Heat the oil in a large, heavy soup pot. Add the cabbage and brown about 4 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2 Add the apples, bay leaves, cloves, ginger, salt, sugar, and 1 1/2 cups water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer 30 minutes.
3 Remove and discard the bay leaves. Stir in the lemon juice. Serve warm.
