(or burgundy wine)

Directions
1 Cut beef into 1/2" thick pieces. Place flour in medium bowl, add beef. Toss beef to coat with flour. Remove beef from bowl, dusting off excess flour. Set beef aside.
2 In large skillet, over medium heat, cook bacon until partially done.
3 Add beef to skillet, and brown beef, turning to cook all sides. Remove beef and bacon with slotted spoon.
4 In slow cooker layer potatoes, mushroom, carrots, onions, garlic, bay leaf, marjoram, thyme, salt, pepper to taste, beef, and bacon. Add broth or wine and cover. Cook 8 to 10 hours on low setting or until the beef is tender.
5 Remove bay leaf. Serve.
