Ingredients
1 canola cooking spray
6 Tomatillo, fresh, medium , husks discarded; rinsed in cold water (about 8 ounces)
1 fresh avocado , peeled and chopped (about 1 cup)
1 fresh green onions , chopped (green and white parts)
2 medium garlic cloves , minced
0.5 whole jalapeno pepper , seeds and ribs discarded, chopped
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
0.5 tsp ground cumin
0.5 tsp chili powder
0.25 tsp salt
0.12 tsp black pepper


Directions
1 Preheat the broiler and lightly spray the broiler pan with vegetable oil spray.
2 Cut the tomatillos in half with a sharp knife, and put with the skin side up on the prepared pan.
3 Broil 4 to 6 inches from the heat for 5 minutes, then, turn and broil for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the tomatillos are slightly tender.
4 Put the tomatillos in a covered container and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes in order to cool.
5 Process the tomatillos with the remaining ingredients for 1 minute in a food processor or blender.
Additional Information
You can use this recipe as a salad dressing, condiment, or dip (comparable to guacamole).
