Insurance companies vary but most will cover a new meter every two years. Typically it is a good idea to upgrade in that amount of time as technology is constantly evolving and upgrading. Most likely in two years your machine will require a smaller drop of blood or be more accurate or have more features. Do you see a diabetes educator on a regular basis? Often manufacturers give meters to the diabetes education offices to distribute to patients for free. If you meet with your diabetes educator on a regular basis, you can ask if your meter has upgraded features. Also, keep reading dlife and other websites to keep track of new technology.
