If eating enough protein- and fat-rich whole, natural foods is not possible or is not resulting in any weight gain, supplementing with shakes is certainly worth trying. There are so many hundreds of options out there when it comes to protein shakes, just be a wise consumer. Look at the ingredients -- the fewer and the more that you recognize, the better -- and look at the carb count and adjust for that. Also, when you find one you like, watch your blood sugar reactions closely the first couple times you drink it.
