I am type 2 insulin dependent! I take 4 shots a day. I take 36 units of lantus along with 7 units of humalog in the a.m.! I also take 6-8 units of humalog at lunch and dinner! I exercise (walk and weights) at least 5 times a week! I eat a lot of fish, salads and chicken. Am I perfect? Not all the time, but my numbers are usually in the range of 80-110 during the day, and my fasting numbers have ranged from 90-105!

Hello,

Thanks for asking dLife.

So glad to hear that you are living an active lifestyle and have been paying close attention to your nutrition. Bravo!

What a surprise to have well-controlled fasting blood glucose levels suddenly rise above target range! After years of diabetes, it is common to reach a point where improved blood glucose control can only be obtained by additional diabetes medicine. It is a natural progression of type 2 diabetes.

Talk with your doctor about your concerns. He or she will review your diabetes treatment plan and determine how best to improve your blood glucose control.

Take care
