Navigating the waters of disability insurance can be frustrating for an individual with a chronic illness like diabetes. Those that underwrite these policies will offer policies to people based on their risk assessments among other things. If your diabetes has been in good control and you have few or no complications, your ability to get a good disability policy will be better. You need to shop several companies and pretty much take the best offer. A Non-Cancellable and Guaranteed Renewable policy is the best type if you can get it. Sometimes joining a discussion group on a diabetes website or going to a support group will help by discussing this with others who have found good companies/agents to work with.
