Thanks for asking dLife.

The odor of urine varies widely. Urine odor is related to the volume and concentration various chemicals excreted by the kidneys.

Normally, dilute urine has little to no odor. If your urine becomes highly concentrated, such as the first morning urine, the urine odor may have a strong ammonia quality. Are there any changes in the color of the urine? Or, any other symptoms?

Many foods, medications, and supplements can affect the odor of urine. Asparagus is among the most notorious. Broccoli and other sulfur-containing vegetables (such as cauliflower and brussels sprouts) may influence urine odor. Keeping a detailed diary may help identify the culprit.

Most changes in urine odor are temporary and do not indicate serious illness. Sometimes an unusual urine odor can be associated with an underlying medical condition. If you're concerned about the odor of your urine, talk to your doctor.
