Dear tangi

Thank you for writing dLife.

During illness or stress the body releases stress hormones, which cause the liver to release glucose. If there's not enough insulin present your blood glucose level will rise.

Arimidex (anastrozole) may cause side effects such as headache hot flashes, sweating, stomach pain, joint, bone, or muscle pain. These side effects can trigger the release of stress hormones.

Additionally, eating larger portions than usual - especially carbohydrate, being less active than usual and forgetting to take your diabetes medicine can also trigger high blood glucose levels.

You may be surprised to know that alcohol causes low blood glucose rather than high blood glucose.
