Where do I find a low carb baking mix?
Asked By: drsdknapp

Background Info Hide
I have noticed in some of your recipes you use a low carb baking mix - I have not been able to locate one locally? Can one be made myself if so what goes in it? I am also in stage 4 kidney failure.

Dear drsdknapp,

Thank you for writing dLife!

Low carb baking mixes can usually be found shelved in your local health food store. If not, most stores are happy to place a special order for you. Alternately, you can order low carb baking mixes online.

Bob’s Red Mill low carb baking mix can be found in stores and ordered online.

Jennifer eloff online has an awesome low carb bake mix As well as many low carb recipes. It is 1 2/3 c almond meal, 3/4 c certified gluten free oat flour, 2 tablespoons sifted coconut flour and 3/4 tsp xanthan gum. Keeps at room temperature 1 month or refrigerated for longer. When substituting for 1 cup or more regular flour add 1/4 c additional. Add 2 Tablsp for less than 1 cup!

Bob's Red Mill has now come out with a low-carb baking mix which can be purchased online. I have always had very good luck with their low-carb, high fiber mixes, particularly the waffle mix.

I went to this website for low carb baking mix ..... www.Carbalose.com ... for 1/3 cup it is 16g carbs and 14g fiber which makes it only a 2 carb serving. Just don't eat more than a serving it could cause you to get constipated. Over all it tastes pretty good .. I have made Impossible Taco Pie using Carbquik and it was great even my husband likes Carbquik and he is a picky eater LOL.

AMAZON.COM has several available... They carry Atkins which is a general baking mix like Bisquick... I've also tried one that was a pancake mix that was really good. It was called Big Train or something like that.
