My Dad was recently diagnosed with type 2 and is allergic to most vegetables and fruits and has a hard time chewing a lot of meats and nuts. We need a safe but easy way for him to increase his protein intake.

Hello,

Thanks for asking dLife. Your Dad is fortunate to have you as an advocate.

The high protein low carb drinks that you mentioned may not be appropriate for everyone with diabetes. Without detailed information about your Dad's medical condition, I am hesitant to consider this product to be safe for him.

I recommend that your Dad talk with a registered dietitian about how best to establish a healthful meal plan with optimal amounts of protein. Such a personalized meal plan will help meet his protein and other nutrient needs and at the most appropriate chewing consistency. The plan will also help control his blood glucose (sugar) level while avoiding the foods associated with allergy.

Take care.
