Hello larry cates
Thank you for bringing your question to dLife. You stated you need a generic medication for neuropathy. There are many medications used to treat the symptoms of neuropathy. Two generic medications are Amitriptyline and gabapentin. Other meds used include Cymbalta and Lyrica but these are name brands. Discuss this with your doctor. You must decide what is safe and effective for you. If your insurance does not have a medication on it's formulary, the doctor can always submit a letter of medical necessity showing what meds have been tried and failed and see if they will cover a name brand medicine. Also, you can go directly to the manufacturers of medications and submit a request for low price or free medicines but you will need to disclose your financial status and wait for an approval.
