Background Info Hide
Diagnosed August 08, lost 40 pounds (115) Exercise regularly, weight came off fast. Recent A1C was 5.8. Just this week I have noticed a rise in my after meal readings (1 hour after) that are much higher than normal such as 137, 148, 143. 129. They had been running (last week) at 115, 86, 99, 106 and have been at that rate for some time. These new numbers are making me feel more depressed and anxious. What's going on? I usually eat less than 100 good carbs per day.

Dear spirit7free, Thanks for your question. If you were my patient, I would be very happy with your blood sugar numbers. I expect blood sugar numbers to rise after meals. Usually the high point is about 1.5 - 2 hours after you eat a meal. An A1c of 5.8 is in the non-diabetic range. I think you have probably exceeded the goals your physician set for you. Have you discussed this? I think you are doing quite well and should stop obsessing over these numbers.
