Yes, I have lots of experience with children age 10 with pumps, and those younger and older. I would recommend that you consult with your child's healthcare provider to see if you all are ready to initiate pump therapy. Most places have criteria that must be met before pump therapy can even be considered. Where I work we have a list of criteria, then patients must attend a pump class, wear a saline infusion, then initiate insulin pump therapy. The pump can be a great tool, but it is more work and you and your child need to be ready for the transition. There are different brands too, so you need to be an informed consumer. Check out the different pump companies websites, talk to sales representatives, consult with your endocrinologist and nurse educator to see which pump will meet your needs the best. Then as a family see if ipump therapy is the right choice for you. Good luck, and happy pumping!

Let your child be independent. I am 10 and have a pump. Don't let your child be held back by the pump. Make sure to ask your docter about the basil rates and bolus's and all that stuff.
