Heart disease is the leading cause of death among people with diabetes. Poor blood glucose control over time can cause blood vessels to narrow and/or lose elasticity. High blood cholesterol levels can clog arteries with fat deposits.

We encourage everyone, especially all people with diabetes, to live a more active lifestyle through regular physical activity. Healthful eating and stress management are also good for the heart.
