Depression and/or anxiety seems to be more prevalent in patients with diabetes or almost any chronic disease. There is stress associated with disease management. I would suggest that you find outlets for your stress such as yoga, support groups or engaging in a new hobby or pastime. Pets are often great ways to help with stress. Talk to your health care team about how you feel; they may find that medication might be useful for you at this time. You are not alone and this is not unusual. I have raised two sons with type 1 diabetes and we dealt with stress at many points along the way The key thing to remember is that stress can be managed. It's not a weakness, asking for help is a sign of strength! Stress can cause blood sugars to rise, which is something to be aware of. Take care!
