Dear Okareno,

Thank you for writing dLife.

I sense your frustration and concern.

Managing gestational diabetes requires treatment with dietary changes and exercise and/or insulin injections to keep your blood glucose levels as close to normal as possible and to prevent complications in both you and your baby.

It is obvious that your blood glucose levels are not well controlled. You may require an adjustment in your food intake and/or insulin dose. If you have not already done so, I urge you to contact your healthcare provider immediately. Your healthcare provider will determine your insulin requirements. Additionally, I urge you to schedule a visit with a registered dietitian (RD) who specializes in diabetes (CDE). An RD will help you with carb counting, which is often part of the problem with fluctuating blood glucose levels.

Once again, please contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Good luck and be well.
