You want to keep the wound clean. Watch for signs of infection. One of the most important factors in allowing the wound to heal quickly is keeping blood sugar levels in good control. If blood sugars are high the healing process takes much longer. Higher sugar levels provide a good environment for bacteria to grow leading to infection. If there is any question of an infection being present take your fiancé to the doctor so appropriate antibiotics can be prescribed.
