Thanks for writing dLife. As transit companies may have different rules, it is not uncommon for those who use insulin for diabetes control to be restricted from driving because of the risk of hypoglycemia. This is a safety and liability issue. Rules may possibly vary from state to state so it is advisable to check with your state's licensing board for the most up to date answer. Best of luck to you.

I can't speak for trains, however in the case of driving a bus a CDL license is required. Under current regulations the use of insulin is prohibited and a CDL license can be pulled. I used to drive and no longer hold a CDL. There is a process for waivers, however I'm not going tell you its easy. I'm quite sure employers can't afford the liability (nor the violation) of having a driver experience a low and having an accident
