Hello,

Thanks for asking dLife.

I have several concerns with the diet recommended by your doctor.

Although it is true that with fewer calories, the greater is the weight loss. However, 800 calories do not provide enough calories for an adult. Insufficient calories make it more difficult to ward off hunger and to perform daily functions. People are more likely to go off this type of diet. Why would one want to start with a diet that is likely to fail?

Shakes and bars do not teach a person how to eat properly. People need to eat real food! An occasional one meal rplacement product and 2 regular meal with real food might be okay. A healthful meal and exercise plan has been shown to be more beneficial for achieving and maintaining target blood glucose levels and weight loss.

Would there be enough nutrients and fiber to meet the daily ntrients recommended to maintain optimal health and proper gastrointestinal function?

Take care.
