Background Info Hide
no matter what or when I eat, my sugar drops after I eat, even during a clinic 2 hour tested sugar test it went from 59, ate pancakes and such stuff, it dropped to 42, my levels never get above 60, check sugar 5 to 9 times a day, most time able to get level up before seizure happens, my doctors couldn't figure out the sugar was causing the seizures, I did, I have Military doctors, have done everything you can think of to find out what's wrong, but can't come up with anything, can you please help. I stay home months on end scared to go in public because not wanting to have seizure in public, only have one about every 12 to 18 months, but sugar drops to 40s most everyday. HELP

Thanks for writing dLife. Your concerns and fears are indeed very worrisome and certainly a medical evaluation- preferably by an endocrinologist would be very helpful. There can be cases of excess insulin levels in the blood. It is not clear in this question if you are taking insulin for diabetes or any other medications that would certainly need adjustment for the blood glucose levels that you describe. Other factors that need to be considered are your food intake and eating pattern, physical activity levels and weight status. You may certainly benefit from eating small meals and snacks throughout the day with no more than 2 or 3 hours in between, and having a readily available source of carbohydrate with you at all times, such as glucose tablets or gels. Snacks that contain resistant starch, such as a product called Extend Bars, may help you with maintaining a level blood sugar. You may also want to discuss the possibility of a digestive disorder with your doctor which may in fact inhibit proper absorption of nutrients, such as celiac disease. This can be screened for with a blood test and diagnosed with an intestinal biopsy. Celiac disease is often responsible for many symptoms that you describe but if also often undiagnosed. Best of luck to you!
