"for months my bg have been 400-500, I was on metformin 1000 x 2 a day now i am on Insulin 70-30 2 x a day. is it possible that i can get off insulin."

Dear runthe, From your statement that your blood sugars were running 400-500, I think it is improbable that you can attain relatively "good" blood sugars on metformin alone. There are other oral medications and byetta that could be tried. Only your physician knows what medication may be appropriate for you, given your specific medical problems. 70/30 insulin is given twice daily for a person who eats 3 meals per day. It is taken before the first and third meal. Do not take it at bedtime.
