I am newly diagnosed type 1. With all the many different new wireless (tubeless) pumps out, which do you feel is the best? I have found each has different benefits! Also, what is the best (most accurate, smallest, most reliable) continuous glucose monitor)??? Thx in Advance

Well, you ask a difficult question. Like I always tell my patients, buying a pump is a personal choice. We all have different likes, dislikes, and desires from both pumps and continuous glucose monitors. Just like you would research buying a car or a new computer, you need to research all pump options as CGM options to see which will fit your needs the best. Check out Medtronic MiniMed-pump and CGM, Animas One Touch Ping Insulin pump, and Omnipod as they all have wireless features. In addition to the Medtronic CGMS there are also the Navigator and Dexcom. Look at the websites and contact your local representatives for the pumps and CGM systems before making your decision. Also, discuss with your healthcare providers to see if they can provide any suggestions or guidance in making your choice. Good luck!

I have been a pumper for over 2 yrs now. I was on the Animas 2020 insulin pump and just upgraded to their new PING. I LOVE my new PING. I can even swim, shower, and bath with my pump on. It is waterproof up to 12 ft. I use my meter remote to put everything into my pump. Instead of having to go back and forth. I guess deciding on a insulin pump depends on a few things. 1) insurance 2) your preferences & wants 3) your medical teams thoughts/ideas 4) pump company. I did a lot of research with the different pumps before I decided on mine. Everyone and their team is going to be different with these things here. If you put "insulin pumps" in the search engine. There is a site that does a comparison of all the pumps and additional information.

Hi! I am type 1 and have been for 20+ years and have used an insulin pump for over 12 yrs. I think one thing that would help you decide is finding out what other pump users use and how they like it. I, myself, have just switched from Minimed to OmniPod and am LOVING it. And here is why: no tubes! and my blood sugars have been so much better than with MM. And, their billing is 100 X better. They allow payment plans & MM is very strict. If you like to swim, you have to take MM off, it's hard to find a spot to hook it to, priming was always difficult, I could go on & on. None of those issues with OmniPod. That is only my opinion, of course, and I hope you can find other reviews for either OP or MM. Good luck with your decision. :) P.S. I have to thank dLife for bringing OmniPod to my attention. It has changed my life...for the better. THANK YOU!
