Hello,

Thanks for bringing your question to dLife.

Congratulations on your weight loss!

Dry skin is one of the side effects of having diabetes. We typically recommend our patients with diabetes and dry feet to perform the following task before going to bed:

  • wash the feet with warm water

  • carefully dry the feet (especially between the toes) with a soft towel

  • apply a lotion specially designed for a person with diabetes on the dry areas of the feet (not between the toes). Some patients found petroleum jelly (Vasoline) to be equally effective and less expensive.

  • put on a pair of clean sox

  • repeat the above task each night

It may take some time before your feet regain moisture. Your patience will be rewarded.

    Take care.

My feet were also very dry and cracking, my father suggested that I use Gold Balm Medicated lotion. It is a little expensive BUT it really works well on my feet. Also before I go to bed a put a lot of lotion of my feet and put on a pair of socks and in the morning my feet are softer than the night before.
