Labetalol is a beta blocker used to treat high blood pressure. It works by relaxing blood vessels and slowing heart rate to improve blood flow and decrease blood pressure.
Unexplained skin rash was mentioned as one of the side-effects listed for Labetalol. Although an allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, it can still happen. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include skin rash.
Unfortunately, there is no way for your doctorr to know beforehand if you will have problems with a medicine that you have never tried.
Tell your cardiologist (who prescribed the medicine) if the blotches become severe or do not go away. While they may not be related to labetalol, your doctor should be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
