Janumet is a combination oral diabetes medicine to treat type 2 diabetes: Januvia and metformin.
Since your blood glucose (sugar) levels have improved without the Janumet, perhaps you did not need it in the first place. Glad to hear that you will be visiting with your doctor soon. He or she can review your treatment plan and determine what medication adjustments might be required.
In September 2009, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants the maker of the Januvia and Janumet to change the prescribing information to note reports of acute pancreatitis, a potentially life-threatening pancreas problem.
People taking these medicines should pay close attention for any signs or symptoms of pancreatitis, such as nausea, vomiting, not eating, and persistent severe abdominal pain, which may radiate to the back.
