Dear Candis- Thank-you for contacting dLife .com. Please touch base with your health care provider and discuss the intent of the Humalog insulin. Most often this insulin is given right at meal time to handle the carbohydrates eaten at the meal. It is a rapid acting insulin that begins working in 5-15 minutes, peaks in 60-90 minutes and is gone in 3 hours. It is important that it is given right at meal time.

I am concerned that the dosage that you wrote is incorrect. Insulin comes in units not cc and 35 is quite a large meal time dose. Please call your health care provider to make sure you have a clear understanding of the directions.

As far as the glucose level at the meal, that is taken care of with the same insulin but as a correction dosage and yes the starting point is above 150, the correction dosing begins. Take a opportunity to contact a CDE or your health care provider to really get a clear picture of your insulin regimen. Do well
