Dear mickey5000, There are many ways to help you deal with blood sugars and work on weight loss. Protein intake is usually not the most important factor when we are trying to control blood sugars and encourage weight loss. It is probably more important for you to look at your carb and fat intake. Eating fewer grams of carbohydrates will require less insulin. Less insulin makes it easier to lose weight. Fat is very calorie dense so if you can cut back on fat in your diet, the diet will consist of fewer calories, which is what is needed for weight loss. Is a Vegan diet harmful.....no, but you need to be sure you are taking in protein from good sources. You may want to talk to a dietitian to learn more about healthy vegan diets.
