Hello lennylee
Trazodone can have very serious cardiovascular side effects and you should tell your doctor that your heart rate has increased. Trazodone can also increase glucose levels. Trazodone can also effect or change your ability to think. Please discuss these side effects with the prescribing doctor and also with the doctor that manages your diabetes if it is a different physician.

You did not share why the Trazodone was prescribed. This medication is an antidepressant but frequently is prescribed to help with sleep problems. Do not stop taking the medication until discussing it with your doctor.

If Trazodone is not effective for your problem, do not worry, there are many other medications that might help without the adverse side effects you are experiencing. Everyone reacts differently to medications.

Another very good source of information is your pharmacist. Call and ask your pharmacist about the side effects you are experiencing. But remember, you and your doctor are the people that need to review this. Make an appointment and report the cardio side effects immediately.
