"I am wondering if hot flashes from menopause have an effect on blood glucose levels."
Asked By: stormyday

Background Info Hide
I had a total hysterectomy several years ago.(ovaries also removed). I am having hot flashes now, age 49, and wonder if this would have an effect on my blood sugar numbers. Also not sleeping well, and wondering about this and diabeties. Diagnoses Pre diabetic, though I really am diabetic based on high random readings at home.

Hello,

Thanks for bringing your question to dLife.

Blood glucose (sugar) levels can be influenced by menopausal symptoms. Some will experience increased blood glucose reading with hot flashes and reduced restful sleep.

Each person responses differently. Some will experience greater fluctuations in blood glucose than others.

Talk with your doctor about your concerns. He or she might be able to develop a treatment plan to help you to better deal with the symptoms of menopause.

Take care.
