Hello,

Thanks for bringing your question to dLife.

Prednisone is known to cause blood glucose (sugar) to increase. Your frequent use of this medicine could explain why your A1c varies.

Frequent blood glucose monitoring and adjustments in your diabetes medicines should help to control your blood glucose level. Contact your doctor about your diabetes treatment plan. He or she can provide a plan of action for times when you must take the prednisone.

Losing extra body weight is often associated with improved blood glucose readings.

Talk with a registered dietitian about an individualized meal and exercise plan for controlling weight and blood glucose levels.

Take care.
