As I stated my periods lately have been horrible. They leave me moody and depressed. They are so heavy that I am wearing 4 pads at a time. There are blood clots as well. I did see a gyno last month and he did biopsys and found nothing. They also did a ultrasound and said I was fine. He put me on a progesterone pill and I did take it for the 12 days I was to but now my period is back and heavier than ever. I just dont know how I am to live a normal life like this!

Dear juliesouza, Julie, you need to go back to your doctor and continue working with him/her to find out the cause of your heavy bleeding. That is not normal and can't be blamed on your diabetes. If you need to wear 4 pads at one time, you are losing a lot of blood. I recommend having your hematocrit and hemogloblin checked. You may be anemic due to the blood loss. Don't count on the advice of well-meaning friends to diagnose your condition. These symptoms are severe and you need to go back to see your doctor as soon as possible.

My daughter-in-law got some kind of birth control shot and she bleed for six months. Had many of the problems you are describing. I don't remember the name of the shot, but she got anemic also. I hope this helps.

Hi Julie, just a short note, heavy ,prolong periods are never a good sign. This could actually cause you to be in a diabetic condition, in that it could lead you into anemia to diab etes. I onced experienced heavy periods for four days for years from fibroids. Get to Dr. soon and remedy the problem. Your blood sugar will improve alot from no longer being under so much stress from low blood iron.

i had this problemn with an "overgowth" of the lining of my cervix and excess endometrial tissue about 7 years ago. I had very heavy periods and reslutant severe iron-deficiency anemais. I was tried on Aygestin, a form of progestorone, but it spiked my blood sugars and did not fix the problem. I would bleed heavily for 10 -14 days every month and was losing energy . I am African -American, and people at work were telling me I looked pale (because I had lost so much blood)!!!!
My female OB-GYN suggested a "cervical ablation", where the lining of my cervix was destroyed ,and I had no more periods and no more problems after that. I was 47 at the time and did not dedsire pregnancy. This procedure was done prior to menopause,: I could still "feel" the egg drop for about 3- years after ward and I had no menoausal symptoms...just had no periodsds, no more hemorrhages, no more clots.. I then went in to "the change" at 51...but had enjoyed the benefits of no more peiods for four years prior. So I would consider talking to your OB-GYN about other options. Clots and hemmorahging ARE NOT acceptable.
God Bless
