Coffee drinks as well as other foods may be labeled as sugar free, but it is important to remember that sugar free does not mean calorie free or carbohydrate free or that the product won't have an impact on blood sugar levels. So always remember to check the carbohydrate count on foods that claim to be sugar free or "no added sugar."
Also, remember that the caffeine can affect blood sugar and other things, too, such as stress, lack of exercise, sleep disturbances and even tooth/gum disease. Additionally, you may want to double check your blood glucose level with your glucose meter when you get a test result that seems out of the usual range -- remember there is a 10 percent margin of error in glucose testing results, so the point to consider is not only what one test shows, but a particular trend that you may notice over time.
