I have type 2 and my numbers have been between 200-350 for over a year or so. My new doctor took me off the meds and now I take fast acting before meals and slow acting at bedtime. My numbers are still 200 or more most of the time. I am at 28 units at night, should I keep increasing or change insulins?

Dear wnlew526, Thank you for your question regarding adjusting your insulin shots. In my opinion, you should be working with your physician to adjust your medications. It is most likely a dosing issue and your insulin will be adjusted via small changes at a time. It is helpful for you to keep accurate records of what you are eating and when you give your shots, and the units and type of insulin at each time you inject. Share these records with your physician every few weeks and you can have your insulin adjusted safely.

You dont mention your carb intake and if its high. Also how much do you exercise. It takes time to improve your numbers if the dose isnt right talk to your doctor bs numbers as high as what you have needs adjustment pronto.
