I always advocate a healthy diet for all patients, whether they have diabetes or may be prone to becoming diabetic. The easiest way to eat is to avoid "whites". White bread, white potatoes, and white flour(cookies,cake,etc..) are not good. Eat lots of lean meat and vegetables. Whole wheat bread is best, and make open face sandwiches where possible so that only one piece of bread gets used in a sandwich.
