I have never heard that Concerta would pose a risk of developing diabetes in children, and I have been a pharmacist for many years. The FDA would have issued severe warnings, if not issue a recall if that were the case. I do not see a correlation.

I am concern about your grandson being on Concerta. It is basically another form of Ritalin. It can be addictive. I think it is for sure. I am an adult that uses it.
I advise you to look up the rare side effects of Concerta. I always believe in that for any med.
Are the changes in your grandson because of the Concerta that he uses now or a consequence of a reaction to it?
When my son was a boy he had nasty reactions to Ritalin in the form that was available then. He had trouble thinking, had horrible heaaches, and couldn't eat because he was nauseated. Of course not all children react to it that way. Maybe it is the med that your grandson needs. I am not a doctor or a healthcare person.
My stepson uses Adderal for it. Just another possibility is all.
