"Are my children more likely to become ill/sick (i.e. colds, infections, etc.), because I carry an autoimmune gene?"

I have had type 1 DM since 1980 and have four children.

Yes diabetes is an autoimmune disease and the fact you have it puts your children at higher risk of developing diabetes. However, I have never heard that a parent having an autoimmune disease puts offspring at higher risk of illness/infection.
