The Question

I reviewed the side effects of Actos and no central nervous system effects are listed under warnings. Are you on any other medications? Are you under any stress that may effect your sleeping pattern?
Diabetes does have long term complications involving the neurologic system and this can be exhibited as sleep or memory problems but this is usually after a very long time with uncontrolled glucose levels. I would suggest starting a journal. Write down situations that concern you and what is happening at the time. Take this journal with you to your doctor appointments so you do not forget to ask questions. Part of self management is being organized and prepared for your visits to the doctor.
I suggest that you call your doctor and leave a message asking for the doctor to call you back. Put notes right next to your phone so when the doctor returns your call, you will not forget why you wanted to speak to him or her.
If you continue to have sleep and memory problems, your physician may refer you to a neutrologist for more detailed testing.
