"As per my previous question, the reason that I feel deprived is exactly as you indicated....I must eat at certain times....and eat only small portions"

Background Info Hide
As I said, I don't have a weight problem. I'm, 105llbs and 5'4", and although I realize that processed foods cause blood sugar to rise....I mostly save my ration of 30 grams of carbs for desserts. I feel deprived when I go out to dinner with my friends...they can eat pasta (unlimited and whole baked potatoes) I feel deprived when I go grocery shopping and watch others purchase big bags of chips and they can go home and eat them out of the bag without measuring them. I never had a weight problem and always ate whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. I loved snacking. Now I'm expected to eat at certain times and measure everything. I actually hate eating now and wish I could just take a pill. These restrictions make me feel deprived and going back to my nutritionist isn't going to help.

Hello
I feel your frustration. You are doing a great job and have learned the hard way that eating is for fueling the body, not for fun. I hope that you can find someone to help you with this frustration. Maybe the forum or a peer group would help with increasing your coping skills. There is nothing fun about being a diabetic, but we can hopefully support each other. Maybe one of your good friends could learn more about Diabetes by reading about it and would show more empathy to you especially when you are out socially. Ask your friends to read about Diabetes on dLife. The more your friends know, the more they can support you. Good luck.
