Dear dLife guest:
First of all, I think it's great you want to enjoy the outdoors and kayaking definately is a great adventure. Although the Minimed insulin pumps and CGM devices are made water resistant but not "waterproof". Basically, the difference is that they won't get damaged if they accidentally get wet, but they are not meant to be submerged in water. You have several options. The first option is to disconnect the pump and the monitor for the time you are doing the kayaking. In this case, you need to manually monitor your blood glucose, and if necessary do a manual bolus while the pump is off. Another option is looking into a water resistant pump such as the Animas One Touch Ping, which is a cordless pump with a glucose monitor as well. This particular pump is especially designed to be used in the water for swimming and water sports.
