Dear dLife reader: Low carbohydrate eating often improves blood glucose levels because of the lack of available carbs to turn into glucose (sugar) in the blood. The medications you're on may affect your ability to lose weight. Also, you don't mention whether you exercise or not. I would encourage you to get involved in some type of activity (with your doctor's approval). Also, as we age, it is more difficult for our bodies to burn fat, as the metabolic rate, that is the body's ability to burn calories, is lower. One of the most effective tools I use for my patients is to lower the portion size of every thing you eat.
