Hello 23174600
If you are on oral meds, there is rarely any reason to do fingersticks more than twice a day. A fasting test and a test two hours after your dinner is sufficient to monitor your control. Even this is really more than is needed if you are on oral meds.

Ask your doctor why he wants twice a day testing. It may be that you are stable. It may be that obsessive testing is adding to your stress.

If you are type II but on insulin or a combination of oral meds and insulin. Twice a day is enough unless you feel shakey or if you are ill. People on insulin usually test more often especially if they are using a sliding scale or counting carbs and giving themselves a coverage injection.

unfortunately some drs are of the belief that if your on oral meds you don,t even need to test. They say if you use insulin or a oral drug that stimulated your pancreas that you should test. It was explained to me that you could get burned of testing after years and when you had to use insulin you would not test enough
