"How long does it take for meds to work?"
Asked By: buschet

Background Info Hide
Hello, My blood sugar has been creeping up even though I watch my diet and exercise most days. My dosage of Glipizide was increased 4 days ago but I haven't seen much if any results in my numbers. Should I have seen any difference yet? Or should I give the new dosage more time to get into my system? Thanks for your time

Hello,

Thanks for bringing your question to dLife.

Increasing blood glucose (sugar) levels require adjustments in diabetes medication. How quickly a person responds to a particular medication varies.

Glipizide is an oral medicine used for treating people with type 2 diabetes. It belongs to the sulfonylurea class of drugs. Glipizide is used together with diet and exercise to control blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is to be taken 30 minutes before a meal,

This medicine works fairly quickly. If you do not notice any improvements in blood glucose control, contact your doctor. He or she may need to evaluate your treatment plan and make the necessary adjustments.

Take care.

Glipizide usually works for me within the meal I am eating. If it doesnt come down then you might need to see your doc,
