I am currently only on Glyburide and Metformin twice a day and I check my sugar four times a day once before breakfast and once two hours after breakfast and once before Dinner and again two hours after dinner. I also do not have health insurance so I am paying out of my own pocket for my medicine and most of my medicine I can get through the four dollar generic program at Giant Eagle except my Simvastatin which costs me about $49.00

Dear johnswife, Thank you for writing dLife. I think you should keep good records of your blood sugars and share them with your physician. Getting on an insulin pen would cost quite a bit of money, which it appears you don't have. Glyburide and metformin are relatively inexpensive. Perhaps you need a dose adjustment. If you need to add insulin, perhaps a shot of nph insulin at bedtime would be the least expensive way to start. Again, no one can prescribe exactly what you need but your physician and his diabetes team.

I am amazed your simisvatin is so expensive target or walmart has that for $4.00 program hope you can get it there. Also walmart has ther relion insulin for under $25.00 a bottle the pens are extremely expensive without insurance way over $100 so that has to be considered.

Hello johnswife, I've been successful lowering my numbers a bit more by excersising. I walk (at a fairly good pace) for 20 minutes every day. I notice a difference when I skip a day or two.
The best diabetes information I've gotten was right here on dLife, especially in the forums! People there are really friendly and helpful. There's a link at the top of the page.
Do you have a Walmart available to you? I get the Simvastatin there for $15 for a 90 day supply.
