"I take my reading just before having it done at the lab & my reading from the lab is always 40 points higher than my meter reading. Any suggestions?"

Dear Joresa- This is a great question. Evidence shows that lab results can be 10 -15% high since it is a venous specimen rather than a capillary or finger stick specimen. This would explain a difference but perhaps not 40 points.

Does your machine have control solutions and if so do they result in normal ranges? You might want to take your monitor into your doctors office and match your results to their machine.

Let your doctor know there are variations and show him your log book and or download your machine so he can see your trends.

Do well to stay on track for good self management.
