"Could anti anxieety meds help keep better control of sugar levels?"
Asked By: yollie

Background Info Hide
I have recently started taking adco alzam- an anti anxieety medication. I take one in the morning and one at night as I have trouble sleeping and have now sttared exams as well as a new job. I have realized that my bs levels are so much easier to control and dont go as high if I forget to eat for a long period, neither do I hvae as much trouble with high's in the morning when I wake up. Could this be because of the meds or is it just a coincidence?

Thank you so much for your question on dlife. I am glad to hear your blood sugars are under better control. When someone experiences stress, adrenaline and other stress hormones are produced. This, in turn, causes the blood sugar to increase. Stress whether it’s physical or mental can have a big impact on blood sugar. So, now that you are taking anti-anxiety medications, your stress level may be reduced, which has helped the blood sugar.
