"If a person who does not have any form of diabetes fasted for 12 hours and had an A1C done what score would be expected?"

Thank-you for asking such an excellent question. Presently, the normal range for fasting glucose is less than 100. The diagnostic range for pre-diabetes is 100-125. The diagnostic range for diabetes is 126 and above.

Normal HgA1c ranges are 4-6%. There is some discussion in the diabetic science world that as the A1c is approaching 6% there is cause to make healthy meal plan and exercise changes.

Find out what the ranges are for the particular lab is where you had the blood tests. They should be very close to the above recommendations.

Fasting for an a1c would have no affect on what the a1c would be. Some think that fasting for an a1c makes a difference.
