Hi goldensun! Wow! Let me start by congratulating you on taking action with your prediabetes. Preserving beta-cell function and slowing the progression from pre-diabetes to diabetes is so important. If you are vulnerable to having slightly abnormal blood glucose levels, then you may be more at risk for flu. However, perhaps we should look at this issue a little differently. Stress and illness can raise glucose levels, causing your beta-cells to work harder which can be just the event to push someone from pre-diabetes to diabetes. Doing everything you can to avoid flu and other virus' may help you maintain your current pre-diabetes status longer. I encourage you to discuss this issue with your doctor. Good luck and stay well!
